Flat Lead Bricks

$98.00

Lead bricks are commonly used for radiation shielding where high levels of exposure may occur. The need for lead brick walls are most often seen in Nuclear, Healthcare, Radioisotope and certain Industrial facilities where high energy X-rays are in operation or where radioactive materials are used, processed or stored. They can be used to construct walls or to build lead caves, which are perfect for the containment of radiation.

Lead Bricks are a Robust Shielding Solution

Flat lead bricks are ideal for shielding projects that require protection against X-rays and nuclear radiation. If you are constructing a new building or refurbishing existing premises where radiation shielding is mandated, flat bricks can meet or exceed federal specifications for shielding requirements. Our lead bricks facilitate erecting, modifying, and relocating protective walls and caves for the containment of radioactive materials.

Careful construction to exact specifications makes these suitable for even the most demanding environments. With its great density, lead makes an effective barrier against radiation while occupying minimal space.

Coatings and Finishing for Lead Bricks

Considering the increasing focus on lead by environmental, health, and safety organizations, many of our customers prefer to have their lead parts encapsulated in some type of coating. These coatings prevent employees, contractors, and customers from having direct contact with lead. We offer several solutions, including application of an epoxy-based paint system or powder coat encapsulation, as well as an uncoated option.

Uncoated lead bricks are ideal for jobs in which the bricks are encapsulated within a wall or container. Because there is a risk of direct contact with lead in the form of dust and residue, lead safety practices must be rigorously followed.

Epoxy is a lightweight compound of polymer resin and polyamine hardener. This epoxy coating allows for the safe handling of lead bricks by greatly reducing human contact with lead. This is also the most cost-effective of the coatings that we offer, and the standard coating for small quantity orders.

Powder coating is available for large quantities.
